Reports from Assemblies: Sydney
Rev Phillip Duncan
Clothier, evangelist, pentecostal pastor.
Sydney
We feel we 'have seen something achieved in the orderliness of the meetings without having the spoilt by any formalities that would restrict the activities of the Holy Ghost.
Pastor Brown is certainly gifted in organising the Church in such a way that everyone feels they have their part to play in adding to the success of the meetings.
The deacons, choir, students, Sunday-school workers, home and Foreign Boards, literature and sister committees all do their share of ministering according to their various capacities.
Newcastle has occupied our attention for a little time now and we are very anxious to see the gospel spread to every town, but after testing the ground, we feel the Lord has yet a work to do there before the time is ripe for the harvest. Nevertheless, several hungry souls in touch with us from Newcastle are crying out for fellowship. and the Lord will avenge His own elect who cry unto Him.
During a Saturday night prayer meeting recently when the presence of the Lord was much in evidence, and the saints were enjoying a real Pentecostal meeting, nine young men came in and knelt right through the meeting. They came forward and made themselves very friendly, showing, a happy Christian spirit, and said they were from the Methodist and Church of England training colleges. We trust the Lord will increase their hunger and desire that they will eventually enter into the experience that will truly entitle them to be witnesses for God.
The preparation for the Bible Campaign is all complete, and we anticipate a great gathering of people to hear Pastor Donald Gee minister the Word of God, and surely our appetite is whetted as we long for a real feast of the finest of the wheat. We appreciate such a ministry as his that will do much to consolidate our position and make the Christian community realise that we love the Word of God, and abide by its teachings. We trust also that Brother Gee will leave Australia feeling his labors amongst us has not been in vain, and the time has been well spent.
