Miracle of Grace
E. Heeon
[16] Miracles of Grace I should like to testify to what the Lord has done for me. Ten weeks ago I was attacked by influenza, and was ill for a whole week, after which I was very weak in body. I went back to work at cutting cane; but the first day proved too much for me. I went home and was off work again for a week. Being so ill and not knowing the cause, I decided to have a medical examination. The doctor's report was that I had low blood pressure and gastric stomach. He said cane-cutting or loading was out of the question for me in the future, and gave me a certificate to that effect. So I took on an easy job on the farm. Pastor Frangos was relieving Pastor Smith at the time. I came into the meeting one Thursday night, and Pastor Frangos prayed for my healing. Although I did not receive the same immediately, I know God hears and answers prayer. One day, three weeks later, I suddenly found I had been healed. I went back to my job (by no means an easy one), and found I was as well as I had ever been, and that younger men than I tired more quickly. It is now seven years since the Lord saved me. I had previously been a heavy gambler. It was through the sickness of my little child that I came to give my heart to the Lord. He was sick for eight weeks, and all hope of his recovery had been abandoned. As a last resort, we were going to take him to the doctor, and on the way, called in at the Gospel Hall for Bro. Dales (who was Pastor at that time), to pray for him again. Pastor asked me to give my heart to the Lord, and when I yielded, the baby wag healed at that instant. Praise God, there was no need to go on to the doctor. It was a glad day for my wife, who till then had struggled on single-handed, serving the Lord faithfully, and trying to keep the family of four children. I gambled so heavily that there was never a penny of my wages to spare for the home. But for the succeeding seven years, ours has been a happy home indeed, with Christ as its Head. (Signed) E.
