Official Opening and Dedication of the New Church at Wynnum

"To God be the glory, great things He hath done". The opening lines of Fanny Crosby's great hymn expressed the sentiment of the members of the Wynnum Assembly, as together with Pastors, delegates and representatives from many Churches they stood to sing at the commencement of the Dedication Service.

Many months of hard work and sacrificial giving in different ways were climaxed by the impressive Opening and Dedication Service on Saturday afternoon, 19th February.

A brief ceremony was first conducted outside the building during which Pastor Cathie handed the key of the Church door to the District Superintendent, Pastor F. A. Lancaster who, on behalf of the Assemblies of God officially opened the door, inviting those gathered to follow him inside for the Dedication Service.

Pastor Cathie commented on the history of the Assembly of God in Wynnum and expressed thanks and appreciation to all those who had contributed so generously in many ways to the successful completion of the Church building. Several of the Pastors and representatives present added their comments and congratulations on the Assembly's achievement, and telegrams and letters received were read to the congregation, including those from the Commonwealth Chairman, Pastor Davidson and Commonwealth Secretary, Pastor Hewitt.

Pastor Lancaster then brought a stirring address for this occasion, after which the Dedicatory Prayer was offered by Pastor H. W. Bartholomew, Principal of the Commonwealth Bible College.

A well attended evening service was again blessed of God as Pastor Lancaster ministered on "The Five Fold Work of the Church", bringing a most successful day to a conclusion with all having been richly blessed in the presence of the Lord.
