22 Evil Thinking

[25] EVIL THINKING.
He that would love life, and see good days —let him diet? No, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile. Let him turn away from evil arid do good, let him seek peace and pursue it.
An unbridled tongue is full of deadly poison —it defileth the whole body. Notice, it is the body that is defiled. I know one who from a violent fit of temper broke out in a rash in his body. Are not the sayings of Solomon true? "Envy is the rottenness of the bones," "Pleasant words are health to the bones," "He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life". When we come to see evil thinking is unhealthy we shall "lay aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocricies, and envies, and all evil speaking." Jesus said " That which cometh out of the man —that defileth the man—For from within—out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts. Read the list he gives in Mark 7: 21-23. Evil surmisings come from the same source Look diligently lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you and thereby many be defiled. Keep thy heart above all that thou guardest, for out of it are the issues of life. Look up Prov. 4: 20-24; 9: 11; 10: 27; 14: 30; 3: 2, 8, and see the promises of health and life for right living. Also Isa. 58: 8-11. Then search the sayings of Jesus and His Apostles. If any man teach otherwise and consent not to wholesome (healthful) words, EVEN THE WORDS OF OUR lord Jesus Christ and to the doctrine which is according to godliness, he is proud knowing nothing. See I Tim. 6: 4-5.
Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, THINK ON THESE THINGS, then thou shalt prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Amen.
